Hot Honey Broccoli
Hot Honey Broccoli

Ingredients
- broccoli, 1 large head chopped into florets
- vegetable broth or water
The Sauce
- honey, ½ cup
- tabasco sauce, ¼ cup (more or less, dependent upon on the amount of heat you like)
- crushed red chili flakes
- salt
- corn starch, 1 tbsp
Directions
Preheat oven to 400°.
Steam broccoli first. In a large or medium size pot, fill a couple of inches up with vegetable broth or water. Bring to a simmer, add in the broccoli, then cover with a lid and reduce heat. Let broccoli cook 6-8 minutes, until broccoli is softened.
In the meantime, make the hot honey.
Pour honey into a small mixing bowl, then add about 2-3 tablespoons of tabasco sauce, a pinch of red chili flakes and salt. Taste test! Starting small with the heat is important. You can add more honey to lessen the heat, or add more tabasco to up the heat! Set this aside for a moment.
Prep the cornstarch. Combine 1 tbsp cornstarch with water until consistency becomes smooth.
Before working more on the hot honey, your broccoli should be cooked by now. Let the broccoli slightly cool and then spread the florets out evenly on a baking sheet. You can salt and pepper the florets, and add some oil to coat or go completely oil-free. Enter florets into the oven to roast for 20 minutes until crisp! You can broil on high at the end for 2-3 minutes for extra crisp.
Return back to the hot honey to heat it up! In a small sauce pan on medium low heat, add in the hot honey. Give it a stir and let heat. Once the hot honey is.. hot, add in the corn starch and stir continuously until hot honey begins to boil.
Once boiling, reduce to a simmer, and continue to stir for a couple minutes. Be careful not to burn the sauce. You want a thick, smooth consistency.
Remove hot honey from the heat. Take broccoli out of oven once roasted and add roasted florets to a bowl and drizzle the hot honey, coating and mixing together evenly.
Veggies shouldn’t be boring, enjoy this easy, surprising on the palate, side dish!
